Established in 2004, MK Food Bank originated as a direct response to growing food poverty in the area. Now supporting more than 5,000 households a year, we provide support to anyone in Milton Keynes who needs us. We rely solely on donations of food and money from the local community, schools, churches, & corporate sponsors, and on our more than 90 regular volunteers, who sort donations, pack parcels and distribute emergency food parcels from 12 serving centres across the city.
For those experiencing longer term financial hardship, our network of top-up shops provides an alternative route to food parcels and aims to encourage and support independence. These shops, where customers can buy 10 store cupboard items for £2, are already helping hundreds of households put food on their tables and budget for other bills and essentials.
